"When East Meets West" Porcelain Exhibition

In collaboration with Tung Yao Ceramics 童窯

SOIL-Tung-Yao-Ceramics-Exhibition-Jago-Poynter-Lin-Sheng-Qiang

Jointly presented by SOIL and Tung Yao Ceramics Design Studio, this exhibition will show how “porcelain” as a material can be practiced in different ways. Artist’s creations can be changed by the ideas and concepts behind them between different cultures, histories and backgrounds. We are honoured to have invited ceramicists Jago Poynter, from Great Britain, and Lin Sheng Qiang from Jingdezhen in China, to showcase their creations fusing east and west through porcelain.

Artists presented on 1st October and 2nd October 2016 at the exhibition. They demonstrated the skills and techniques on “Hand-building” and “Throwing”, and personally conducted workshops.

About SOIL

Founded in 2012,  SOIL aims to promote crafts through the inspiring history, culture and humanity behind them.

We offer a new perspective and experience to traditional crafts.

In collaborations with designers and craftsmen across different

disciplines and cultures, we hope to create better craft designs exposed to alternative methods and materials. Collaboration spreads our design sphere of influence and breaks down walls with new approaches.
